Magnus's list of accomplishments and feats more than makes him an ideal candidate for our DATA division.
His highly intelligent mind is something in particular that I'd like to draw attention to. Through recent conversations with members of the research team and several other departments. I have learned that Magnus appears to understand aspects of our more complex and intellectually demanding projects.
Surprising when one considers that he has no prior history or educational training in these fields. Our records do indicate, however, that he received notably high marks and graduated top of his classes at West Point. A military college with notoriously difficult admission standards. While this could mean that he's naturally gifted when it comes to understanding the sciences.
I believe it's far more likely that he simply sought out and researched on his own. A conclusion I'm almost certain of. As during my sessions with Magnus I learned that he's a rather inquisitve individual. He asked just as many questions as he seemed willing to answer. I'd even begun to feel at certain points during our talks. That I was no longer the one doing the evaluation but rather the one being evaluated.
While embarrassing to admit it did prove quite useful. As it allowed me to see just how charasmtic he was capable of being. Another example of this can be heard in the interviews recorded with his subordinates. Should you lack the time needed to listen. I'll simply state here that they speak highly of his skills as a leader and report that he is strict but fair. Things we'd expected given his background.
On the subject of his background. It was particularly difficult to get anything of substantial note and worth from him. While Magnus was forthcoming about certain aspects. He'd either avoid or shutdown when pressed on specific topics. I found that he used sarcastic and humorous remarks as a form of deflection. Something he'd do whenever the conversation became too emotionally demanding.
It was only after informing him that I was already aware of his history. That he finally stopped being distant and began to speak freely. Which allowed me to confirm several things I'd already suspected.
Some of which I'd discussed with you prior to Mr.Wright's evaluation.
The nomadic lifestyle that came from his childhood as a military brat forced Magnus to become rather adaptable. Not only in his approach to foreign environments but also with people and problems as well. It's also the reason he appears to be quite resilient in the face of difficulty. He wouldn't admit it outright but it's clear he feels like an outsider within our world. This would explain why, despite his charm, he still keeps others at a distance.
From the way, he talks about it, Magnus while at first resistant of the military lifestyle grew to enjoy it. He still adheres to many of the cores values in which they taught him even now that he's left the service. With his sense of duty, courage, and loyalty being the three aspects that stand out the most to me. Because of this we likely won't have to worry about him acting against our best interests.
That is, of course, unless the unexpected happened.
I say this because as I mentioned Magnus's sense of responsibility is strong. And while I believe he'll be an excellent assist for us. That sense of responsibility and loyalty applies not only to his work but to his son as well. The very reason that Magnus made the choice to pursue a civilian life after his contract with the Army lapsed.
It would seem that despite his trouble forming connections. Magnus is quite parental and protective. I believe he wishes to play the role of a better father than the one that he had. I'm certain that if forced to make a choice between us and his son, we would lose every time. It's a risk that I think is worth taking, as we stand to gain an extremely effective soldier in our fight to keep the real world safe.

- His son, Phoenix was convinced when Atticus was 18.
- During his Sophmore year, his father passed away from heart failure. Obsessively focused on school as a resulted of his father's death.
- Didn't learn he had a son until two years ago.
