Cyrus is the youngest member of the wealthy Silverwood family and was born and raised in the region of Sinnoh. While his family had many 'homes' spread throughout Sinnoh, Cyrus spent a majority of his life within the confines of his family's main estate in Snowpoint City. The mansion and the large and rugged mountains that surrounded it had always felt like a prison to him. To anyone looking in from the outside, it might have just seemed like Cyrus was a spoiled kid not aware of what he had. Something that they would be right about. Cyrus had never really wanted for a single thing after all. Yet that didn't stop him from feeling like he was trapped.
Cyrus might have been the youngest of the three Silverwood children but he was the only boy. As such it was deemed that he'd be the one to take over his father's company when the time came. Something he wasn't sure that he wanted. Any attempts Cyrus made at telling his father that growing up was quickly brushed aside. Because he needed to be groomed to one day replace his father Cyrus didn't get enjoy much of a normal childhood. His time filled with business lessons, chess lessons, violin lessons, and variety of other things his father deemed necessary for him to learn. It didn't take very long for Cyrus to begin resenting his father and his own role in the family.
Luckily there were brief moments in his life when he actually got to enjoy being a child. His eldest sister Serenity would sneak him away from his lessons so that he could play. It was during these times that Cyrus actually felt like he was free, the snow and mountains around his home no longer acting like the bars of his cell. These moments were always short lived though. His father quickly being made aware of his absence and dragging him back to his schoolwork. He'd often hear his father and sister arguing because of this.
This was the pattern of his life up until Serenity went missing.
It was pretty normal for her to venture away from the estate in Snowpoint. She'd often come back with stories about Sinnoh that she'd share with Cyrus. So when she had left and not returned for a week Cyrus didn't worry. It was when that week turned into a month, and that month into four months that he assumed the worst. He begged his father to tell him where Serenity had gone but he refused. Simply saying that she was busy and Cyrus had more important things to focus on.
He couldn't focus though. Something in his gut told him that something was wrong and his sister was in trouble. So he broke into his father office when he was away and began to dig through his computer. It was then that he had learned that his father had sent Serenity to Kanto on assignment for Silverwood Industries. Yet something had gone wrong and he hadn't heard from her in months.
This was the push that Cyrus needed to finally get away from his father. He took the money his father had left in the family safe, and the Piplup his sister had given to him as a gift and ran away. He bought a ticket to Kanto and didn't look back. If his father wouldn't find his sister than Cyrus certainly would.[
