Confident and dripping with charm, Kaiden isn't afraid to put himself out there and socialize with his peers. His captivating smile and jovial nature can make it quite easy for others to approach him.
What Kaiden sees as tenacity others might view as stubborn perseverance. Once he sets his mind to something, Kaiden refuses to give up until he's completed his goal. Even if it means trying and failing a hundred times, eventually he'll find a way to succeed.
Kaiden can't afford to fall victim to his fears and doubts. That isn't to say he doesn't have them - because he certainly does. He merely possesses the strength of character needed to move forward despite his fears.
Idle hands make for fretful minds, or so the saying goes. If there is daylight in the day, you're likely to find Kaiden doing something productive. Kaiden likes to keep busy and can't sit still for long. Some might even call him a workaholic.
A kindhearted person with a great deal of empathy, Kaiden is quick to jump into action when someone needs help. It doesn't matter who it is, a complete stranger, a friend, family, or his worst enemy. If someone is in trouble, he'll offer whatever aide he can - regardless of if it's inconvenient for him.
Kaiden is the son of Heartbeat and Replica, two pro heroes that operated in Wayport City. Both of his parents retired shortly after learning that his mother was pregnant. When he was born Kaiden displayed no obvious signs of mutation. Something that persisted for years and allowed him to have a normal childhood.
Neither of his parents made any attempt to hide their pasts from him growing up. Most of Kaiden's bedtime stories were just retellings of his parents heroics. Painted in a fantastic and kid-friendly light that he couldn't help but be captivated. Hearing those tales had a profound effect on Kaiden. Even when he was old enough to understand they were exaggerated. They still shaped his view on what being a hero meant.
For someone with no powers being a hero was easier said than done. So he aspired for lesser forms of heroics. Things like an helping an old lady cross the street or rescuing a cat from a tree. They were small but over time he thought it would all add up to something. At the end of the day, however, none of it felt like he was doing enough. Helping people felt great but he wanted desperately to do it on a bigger scale.
It was that overwhelming feeling of desperation and a wrong turn on the way home. That gave a fourteen-year-old Kaiden exactly what he'd been longing for. He ended up in the middle of an ongoing fight between a hero and villain. The hero was losing, people were in danger, and Kaiden frantically wanted to help. His mutation triggered, linking his despair to the hero and copying their power. Without even thinking he rushed to help the hero and together they defeated the villain.
That moment changed his life forever and in more ways than one. Suddenly every emotion he felt was amplified to the extreme and he didn't know how to control it. It was so overwhelming that once the rush of the fight left him, he fainted. When he came to in the hospital with his parents at his side. Kaiden was worried and for good reason.
His parents explained what they thought his mutation was. A mixture of his mother's empathic powers and his father's ability to replicate another's power. It would take some time to learn how to control, even with their help, but Kaiden was up for the challenge.
That was four years ago and while Kaiden hasn't completely mastered his mutation. It's at least under his control enough to be used for hero work. Granted, it's more sidekick then hero but that's good enough for him.
EMPATHIC MIMICRY
Empathic Mimicry.
By assigning a specific emotion to a super-powered individual that he's come into contact with. Kaiden can mimic that individual's power by focusing on and feeling the emotion he's assigned to them.
X To initially copy a power he must be within line-of-sight of it's user. Afterwards, however, the power is his to use regardless of its original users location.
X Kaiden's body limits how much of a copied power's strength he can access in order to properly adjust. Running at speeds close to 200 MPH for super speed, lifting two tons with super strength, and being as tough as steel.
X He has no choice over what emotion he links to the person. What he's feeling at the time he sees the power used is what he's stuck with.
X He cannot have multiple powers linked to the same emotion. Attempting to do so will simply replace the power currently linked with the new one. He is also only able to assign a single emotion to an individual and thus only copy one power from them at a time.
X He cannot copy more than three powers at any given time.
X Copying a power doesn't give Kaiden knowledge on how to best use it. Any weaknesses associated with power are given to Kaiden as well. If a copied power alters the user's body in any way, then Kaiden's body will mutate in response to the ability. Any sub-powers that a power might have are granted to Kaiden as well.
X If Kaiden's unable to balance his feelings it can have disastrous consequences. His powers could stop working, making him vulnerable or worse. They could become unstable, and depending on the copied powers cause widespread destruction.
X His emotions are drastically heightened, making everything he feels more intense. This also makes powers that influence emotions particularly potent on him.
